Give Your iPad Wood

vers_ipad_case_550

By now we’ve all seen the hardwood/bamboo iPhone cases from Vers, which offer stellar protection and an exceedingly-unique design. Coming soon is the above pictured iPad iteration of the steel-reinforced wood case, which also offers an optional wood prop for table-top use. I also notice the case shields the Home button area on the iPad; can you guys implement that feature on your iPhone cases, too? Word up.

JOYCE iPhone Cases. Rock It.

Joyce iPhone cases

To “welcome the Spring/Summer 2010 season”, Hong Kong retailer JOYCE commissioned iPhone case designs from 6 high-end brands. Apparently the gist is that these designs carry over themes from each brand’s current collection… including the giant freakin’ oblong rock-like case. Who said opulence and practicality don’t mix?

Steam for Mac

Via a series of brilliant teasers sent out to various Mac news sites, Valve Software has been slowly intimating at their forthcoming release of Steam for Mac OS X. From Valve’s distributed imagery, games like Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, and Portal would all be on tap. The Game Developers Conference next week could be the venue for an iron-clad confirmation.

iMaxi: The Apple iPad Case

iMaxi

Yes, that is what it looks like. iMaxi – The Apple iPad Case with Protective Wings takes the obvious moniker joke to the extreme. Etsy seller Hip Handmaids says the case “shields [the iPad] from all those unsightly and embarrassing data leaks that would make any motherboard worry!” See what they did there? The case also comes in a… red-threaded interior version. True story, bro.

10_billion_550

On the same day Steve turned 55, iTunes recorded its 10 billionth song download. What are the odds of that?! I’m no mathematician, so bear with me… let’s see… divide by 12… carry the 55… the answer is… purple. What? In any event, Happy Birthday Steve!

Despite being a viral marketing draw, IE6 Funeral is a concept very near and dear to my heart. Aten Design Group in Denver is throwing a party …funeral …to bid a final farewell to the browser moronic web denizens still use in droves nearly 9 years after its release. If a portion of those users end up attending, I’ll be on hand solely to slap them.

Code Organ

codeorgan_550

The Code Organ site lets you input a url, and then via its self-described “complex algorithm”, turns the site’s source code into synth music. On 3 tries, GUIGalaxy.net first sounded like a trance porno soundtrack… then a 70’s-era dish soap commercial… then like a monkey was banging on a Casio keyboard with its forehead. Just as I had envisioned, when pondering this site’s possible conversion into music, so many, many times.

Daddy like! IGN reports that next month Capcom will be releasing Street Fighter IV for the iPhone, complete with Bluetooth two-player fighting. Art assets were taken directly from its console big brother’s code, so they’ve promised a complete faithful recreation of the experience. Since how the controls handle is a large concern, Capcom will offer a number of control configurations so players can find their favorite position, button transparency, and set-up.

Review: Radtech OmniStand

radtech_omnistand

I had previously written about Radtech’s OmniStand, a portable laptop stand constructed from 6013 Aluminum alloy (aiding in heat-dissipation). It sounded like exactly what I needed, since (as I also noted in that original post) my current iLevel Laptop Stand from Rain Design wasn’t the best at cooling. As such, I decided to pick up an OmniStand for myself.

Never before have batteries made me so horny. Well, there was that one AAA Energizer…insanely arousing. In any event, Sanho Corporation’s three new HyperMac battery pack collections (Nano, Micro, and Mini) come in all 9 iPod nano colors. The HyperMac Nano can recharge an iPhone 1.5 times, the Micro doubles that, and the (not-so) Mini…yep, doubles that, at 6 times.
